Dear colleagues,

I want to thank you for your continued support of the Russian-American Medical Association. I encourage you to renew your membership. If you recently paid your 2008 dues, please disregard this notice.

Dues for 2008 have been set as follows:

Students - $15 per year
Residents, research fellows, associate researchers, RNs - $50
Practicing physicians, faculty members (Associate Professor, Professor) - $100

Membership dues comprise substantial revenue of the Association and it is difficult to maintain RAMA without funds. Preparations are underway for the upcoming 6th Joint National Conference of RAMA and RADA that will be held in October 2008 in Boston, MA and we must collect all dues on time to be ready for the meeting.

Please, pay your dues in time. Many members have taken advantage of online dues payments, along with check payments. Please, visit the web site for more information. In a time of declining government and industry grants, your help is essential.

We are contacting you in regard to the upcoming 6th Joint National Conference of the Russian American Medical Association (RAMA) and Russian American Dental Association (RADA) that will take place on October 3-5, 2008 in Boston, MA and we would like you to consider participating and presenting at this meeting. This year four new groups joined us in organization of the conference - RASA, RANA, RAPA, and AARSA.

Founded in 2002, RAMA is a non-profit professional organization of Russian physicians, biomedical researchers and allied health professionals that has grown extraordinarily rapidly and now has a membership of over 400 professionals representing 40 US states and Canada. In 2004, we entered into an alliance with the RADA.

Since its conception, RAMA has established partnerships with over 50 private and government organizations. Working with these and other collaborators, RAMA provides medical and humanitarian aid on the local level, supports medical education, and provides input to government agencies in formulating economic policies relating to health care. RAMA also began publishing a peer-reviewed medical journal in 2004 and offers a wide range of services and resources for physicians, other health-care professionals, and biomedical scientists. These include:

a nationwide physician referral service;

special initiative for scientific collaborations with FSU;

scholarships for Russian medical students, physicians, and scientists the opportunity to study in the United States;

job placement and staff recruitment;

funding to support educational and clinical missions to Russia;

funding to provide care for patients with difficult medical conditions who cannot obtain effective treatment in Russia.

We are in the process of planning the conference that will take place at the Boston Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston, MA on October 3-5. Online reservations are here and the rates will increase after September 10th based on availability. We expect over 200 participants representing many US states. This two-and-a-half day conference will be the largest, most representative meeting of Russian doctors ever held in North America and will include presentations by a renowned biomedical and clinical researchers.
