I just talked to Dr. Yeugeniy Khavkin who just returned from Russia, where he participated in an International Oncology Congress in Krasnodar. There are many new ideas that came out of it and we want to start working with doctors from there as well. Russia is investing a lot of money into the Krasnodar Region buiding it up to the Sochi-2010 Winter Olympics. We have a very good connection with the Talahassee-Krasnodar Sister City Project and this will be a very rewarding cooperation. Dr. Khavkin will post a report about his visit here soon.
Again, we will need a lot more people to help us with all those projects.

Dr. Yevgeniy Khavkin - Chief of Spinal Surgery Program at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL went to Baltimore, MD to meet with the Chief of Stuff of the Krasnodar Regional Hospital - Dr. Vladimir A. Porkhanov. They visited the Johns Hopkins Hospital and I had a chance to talk to Dr. Prokhanov over the phone tonight.
Krasnodar Regional Government, the Governor - Mr. Alexander Tkachyov himself and the Krasnodar Regional Hospital are seeking cooperation with RAMA and American medical establishment in general.
Much of this work is being done through the Tallahassee-Krasnodar Sister City Program - www.tkscp.org - Mr. Bob Broedel, President.
RAMA-Krasnodar cooperative project will concentrate on several main ideas:
1. The 1st International RAMA Conference is being planned for the summer of 2009 in the city of Novorossiisk, Russia in the newly built 5-star conference center.
2. RAMA will work on the medical projects in Spinal Surgery (Dr. Yevgeniy Khavkin - Northwestern), Laparpscopic Surgery (Drs. Mark Kligman - Univerity of Maryland, Nikolas Zyromski - Indiana University and Dmitry Oleynikov - University of Nebraska along with the SAGES Go Global Initiative), Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery (Dr. Yakov Elgudin - Case Western Reserve University), Trauma Surgery (Dr. Boris Vinogradsky - the ACS contacted RAMA to promote the ATLS teaching in Russia) and Neonatology (Dr. Vladimir Burdjalov - Cleveland Clinic Foundation).
3. RAMA will work on bringing several (up to 10) doctors from the Krasnodar Region to the United States for training in 2009.
If you want to participate in this work, please, let me know.

We want to include in this work yet another force. Apparently, the city of Gainesville, FL is a sister city of Novorossiisk. The Sister City Program President is Steve Kalishman. I contacted him also.
