I posted this here before, but cannot find this topic. We need to discuss this...
If R-AMA members in a particular state decide to form a separate chapter - we will support it. All chapters are independent and function in a federal-type of structure. For example, Ohio Chapter (Dr. George Muenster, President - will get its own official non-profit status with the State of Ohio, IRS, its own bank account, line of credit, credit account etc.) We are working on adoptation of R-AMA by-laws to accomodate all new chapters (Ohio, and in the near future - Massachusetts, and, possibly, Illinois and California). You can adopt it also. I will help you.
The President of the State Chapter becomes a member of the Council of States (COS) - the legislative branch of R-AMA (the BOD is an executive branch) . Now it has three members - me, George and Michael Maysky, MD from Boston (President of the MA Group). COS will have a Speaker, which is elected on a rotating basis (term not decided yet).
